April 30, 2010 - Earth Day 2010
Warrington Township participated in a world-wide celebration of Earth Day on April 24, 2010. This was the Township's 9th Annual Earth Day event.
State Representative Katharine Watson (left) and Rebecca Kiefer Chairperson of Warrington Township Board of Supervisors (right) discussed the Townships commitment to Clean Energy and Clean Water at the Solar Panel Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. This solar energy system valued at $10,000 is an educational and public awareness tool that will generate approximately 1,500 kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable energy per year. The system, gifted to the Township by the PA Clean Energy Communities Campaign will serve as a year round promotional tool for clean energy and a point of community pride.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the celebration continued at the Twin Oaks Day Camp. Activities included storm drain labeling, assembling rain barrels, flower planting, planting two detention basins, cleaning up the park and building a Butterfly/Hummingbird Earth Garden.
