Resa M. Jones, MPH, PhD, is the Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the College of Public Health at Temple University and a member of the Fox Chase Cancer Center. As a seasoned leader and educator with a strong portfolio in epidemiological research, she translates national policy agendas into research hypotheses that can be tested and have significant potential to benefit the public’s health. As a behavioral cancer epidemiologist, Dr. Jones’ research focuses on the study of risk factors and determinants of health-related outcomes relating to cancer prevention and control. She is currently the principal investigator on a project funded by the Water Foundation to explore how PFAS-contaminated drinking water exposure impacts health and well-being in local Pennsylvania counties. Dr. Jones is also leading a recently funded study to determine the association between PFAS-contaminated drinking water and cancer incidence and is a co-investigator on the PA PFAS Multi-site Health Study funded by CDC/ATSDR. In addition, she is principal investigator on two community-engaged colorectal cancer screening projects,—one funded by the National Cancer Institute, the other by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. Dr. Jones is a Fellow in the American College of Epidemiology and has held several leadership positions in the American Public Health Association including Chair of the Executive Board and Governing Council; she is currently a member of the Science Board. |
