A message from Chief Daniel J. Friel. Warrington police announced the arrests of two suspects in connection with multiple explosions in Warrington Township over the weekend. Specifically, on October 1, 2023 between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM. The chief mentioned that Patrol Squad 4 led by Sergeant Menzies and Corporal Krysick, along with officers Kozuch, Errigo, and Umile were all in the area of Easton Road and Street Road Valley Square for the report of multiple explosions.
At around 3:50 AM, police stopped a white SUV spotted leaving the location where an explosion occurred. Police stopped and detained two males and observed what appeared to be multiple illegal improvised explosive devices. One device appeared partially burnt and charred with a wick. Warrington Officers called the Philadelphia Police Department Bomb Disposal Unit. and they responded to assist. The devices and materials located were reported to be dangerous and illegal improvised explosive devices. Warrington Corporal Blanchard and Explosives K9 Jolie later assisted in locating the post-blast location and recovered additional evidence.
The Warrington Police Department would like to especially thank the Philadelphia Police Department Bomb Disposal Unit for responding to assist. We would imagine each incident they are called to can be challenging. Diffusing an explosive device is a dangerous job.
