Warrington Township will be the first municipality in Bucks County and the third in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, to welcome a state-of-the-art red light enforcement system that will help make our community safer. Each year, too many families are impacted by crashes caused by people speeding or drivers failing to stop at red lights. Sadly, the victims of traffic crashes are often occupants of other vehicles or pedestrians who were in the area.
Improving traffic safety is one of the strategic goals of the Warrington Township Police Department. After much debate and consideration, we have installed a traffic enforcement system in Warrington Township. This enforcement program is effective at deterring speeding and red light running, reducing crashes and ultimately saving lives. We realize that having police officers handle traffic enforcement personally is the most effective way to alter driver behavior. This practice will continue. The enforcement cameras will assist our officers in controlling traffic while they are in other areas of the Township performing other duties.
This state-of-the-art system is designed to help us encourage safer driving habits with a consistent presence to reduce red light violations and improve traffic flow. Best of all, it will help us save lives. The red-light cameras are located at two intersections: Easton Rd (SR 611)/ Bristol Rd and Easton Rd (SR 611)/ Street Rd (SR 132). These two intersections were chosen based on a study conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to include the number of violations, the number of accidents (especially accidents with injuries) and the difficulty to effectively and safely conduct “traditional enforcement” at these intersections. Warrington was approved for this program by PennDOT based on their study and our police department is an accredited law enforcement agency.
The Red light enforcement system is a project that was approved by the Warrington Township Board of Supervisors in 2023 and is expected to ‘go-live’ by the end of the month (January 2024). Once the system goes live, the township will allow a 60-day warning period before issuing a citation to red-light violators. The Police Department will be sure to keep everyone posted as progress is made with the project. Please find the attached materials that will answer most common questions.

At the Warrington Board of Supervisors Meeting of Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Warrington Township was awarded the 2023 PECO Green Region Grant presented by PECO representative, Theodore Durand.
Warrington Township has been awarded $10,000.00 from the PECO Green Region Open Space Program. This funding will be used to plant native trees, shrubs and pollinator plants around the new Lindy Community Room, currently under construction in Lions Pride Park. The funding will also be used to purchase an informational kiosk which will be located along the boardwalk, leading to the created wetland habitat in Lions Pride Park, slated to begin construction in June 2023.
Because open space, community education and the enhancement of wildlife habitat is crucial for quality of life, PECO has partnered with Natural Lands, a non-profit land conservation organization, to distribute these competitive grants since 2004. The program awards grants to municipalities for efforts to preserve, protect and improve open space in southeastern Pennsylvania. This is the fifth PECO Green Region Open Space grant that Warrington Township has received through this program.
